Chassis Analysis as a Vital Component in Mining Machinery and Dump Trucks

The chassis is one of the critical elements in mining machinery and dump trucks, responsible for bearing loads and providing structural strength. This paper presents a finite element analysis (FEA) of the chassis of a Terex MT3300 AC mining dump truck with a load capacity of 150 tons (136 metric tons). The research examines stress distribution in both static and dynamic states, including during turning and braking, as well as identifying areas prone to stress concentration in the chassis. The chassis was modeled using SolidWorks software and analyzed with ANSYS software. Numerical analysis results indicated that the highest stresses occurred in the rear sections of the chassis near the rear drum, and the presence of cracks in the actual model in these areas confirmed these findings. The study's findings contribute to optimizing the design, increasing the lifespan, and improving the performance of the heavy-duty mining dump truck chassis.
