Author: Abolfazl Mahyapour Lori (Engineering and Design Office Expert)
The use of recycled materials in metal forming processes is one of the sustainable and effective ways to develop the industry and protect the environment. This method can reduce production costs, energy consumption, and environmental pollution while improving product quality. This article examines the methods, challenges, and solutions related to the use of recycled materials in metal forming processes. Some of the metal forming methods that can utilize recycled materials include rolling, forging, drawing, pressing, casting, and more. Some of the challenges of this method include sourcing high-quality recycled materials in sufficient quantities, performing pre-processing and post-processing operations on recycled materials, maintaining the mechanical and chemical properties of recycled materials throughout the forming process, and adhering to safety and health standards in the recycling process. Some solutions for this method include selecting the appropriate forming method for recycled materials, conducting the necessary tests and analyses to examine the properties of recycled materials, applying methods to enhance the properties of recycled materials such as alloying, reinforcement, heating, and more, and creating an effective and responsible supply chain for recycled materials
