Experimental Study of the Effect of Fluid Pressure on the Formability of Thin-Walled Steel Tubes in
In recent years, the scope of application of thin-walled metal tubes has expanded in many industries such as automotive, oil and gas, and aerospace. In this article, an experimental investigation is conducted on the effect of internal fluid pressure (as a substitute for the mandrel) on springback and ovalization of thin-walled metal tubes in the hydraulic rotary stretch bending process. The results showed that fluid pressure plays a very important role in the final quality of the bent tubes, such that the amount of the mentioned defects decreases with increasing fluid pressure.
